Network Security Group Purchases Waytek Software; Adds Avast Business Solutions to Distribution Offering

Boutique distribution business now offers even more value and curated products for channel partners seeking a high-end distribution partner

NEWTON, NC – December 18, 2017 – Network Security Group (NSG), the cyber security distribution division of Temprano Techvestors, announced today that it has completed the acquisition of Waytek Software, the boutique endpoint security software distribution and value-added resale division of Waytek, a New Jersey-based technology company. Through the Waytek acquisition, NSG adds the Avast Business cloud and endpoint security solutions to its partner offerings.

“We were excited when NSG approached us about purchasing our distribution arm,” said Brian McDonnell, President of Waytek.

“We appreciate our loyal customers, but we have decided to focus on the managed services side of our business as opposed to software distribution,” he continued. “NSG will provide the top-notch service and support our clients deserve resulting in a total win-win,” McDonnell continued.

Waytek Software will continue to distribute the same brands as in the past, and customers can expect an elevated level of service with a larger team devoted to them, led by several industry veterans, including Luke Walling, General Manager of NSG and owner of Temprano Techvestors.

“Customer service is the cornerstone of everything we do,” said Walling. “And our passion for security software runs deep. It just made sense to acquire Waytek Software and add their portfolio of customers and product lines to our growing business,” he said.

“One of the other benefits of the Waytek acquisition was our ability to secure the Avast Business product line. Avast has one of the largest cybersecurity networks globally, with over 400 million endpoints under its management, and now, Avast Business solutions will be a core focus of our future strategy.”

Avast Business is committed to delivering reliable, affordable, business-grade security solutions to small-to-midsized companies. They will join the lineup of other industry-leading brands offered by NSG, including ESET, Sophos, Netshield, Barracuda and more. In 2018, NSG plans to add a few more carefully-chosen lines to truly become a comprehensive, trusted source for channel partners.

Also in 2018, NSG will begin an aggressive partner recruitment program to serve value-added resellers and managed services providers who focus on the small to midsize business market. NSG is different than other distributors because it is owned and operated by a team who has worked on both sides of the vendor/client relationship. This makes NSG an attractive alternative to big-box distributors who sell hundreds or even thousands of software brands, as NSG focuses more on forming strong relationships and representing a smaller, more curated lineup of products.
